Off-campus library services
Glen made a good point in his comment on my last posting regarding access to Brandon University library holdings and online databases. As Brandon University students, everyone taking this course has access to library holdings and Inter-library Loan(ILL) services. Students are provided with a special site dedicated to distance delivery students. There is also a process for claiming your BU library IDs, if you haven't done so already. I have included a tag in del.icio.us named BU_library, with a link to this Off-campus service. There are plenty of excellent tutorials built into the site for those unfamiliar with databases such as Ebscohost and CP:IQ. I hope this information is of assistance in your quest for research resources.

Thanks Clark.
Great link to the BU library page. I try to use open access resources as much as I can just on principle but sometimes you have to get something that is behind a paywall.
Always good to have the library account open and access to the online data bases.
What do you think about electronic journals that make you pay through the nose for access?
It seems like blatant academic piracy to me when I know the research was funded by pubic funds and the journal infrastructure is paid or subsidized by public funds. I'm thinking specifically of something like the Conference Board of Canada reports.
I agree with you, Glen. I find the pay-for-access journals very frustrating. It's an awful feeling to locate a potential research resource, only to find it inaccessible, owing to access fees. And often the cost isn't negligible, either. I've found 6 page articles that would cost me $10.
